walk to the grocery store for a cold snack… neapolitan “itty bitz” ice cream
sit on the patio eating my ice cream & decompressing after a long week
take photos of all my flowers and plants to share with you
whip up my favorite teriyaki marinade for the steaks for dinner
meet “monty” the little terrier who is visiting for the weekend
sit down at the computer and debate writing a blog post
hear the weather radio start beeping like crazy with storm warnings
walk outside to put car in garage… don’t want hail damage!
come back upstairs to write the blog post, afterall
And now, my flowers/pots/gardens/planters, for your viewing pleasure. I don’t know the names of some barely any of the plants, but I’ll try to list what I do know so I’ll just post the pictures. This year, I went with a “theme” of purple, dusty silver, green and white. I wanted to include plants with more interesting foliage, instead of tons of flowers. There is something tropical and exotic about this approach, I think. Also these types of plants seem to do better on my shaded patio, so that’s a nice bonus!
These are two of my zucchini plants. They seem to be growing right be before my eyes! I can’t wait for the taste of fresh-from-the-garden zucchini and tomatos. I will make a tasty summer stir fry, topped with homegrown basil and cilantro and maybe some peppers as well.
All this talk of food is a reminder that I need to go grill up those steaks before the storm comes. We’ve been eating on the patio plenty this summer, and also grilling more and more meals. I’ve taken to outdoor cooking, for everything from pizza to fish. Next week I will post some of my favorite meals on the grill, so you can head into the the 4th of July weekend armed with a whole collection of fun things to cook, besides the traditional brats and burgers.
