So I designed a blog for Aaron. Aaron, by the way, is Emily’s husband. He is one of those people that you want to know. He’s got a way with words. He knows what to say, and how to make you stop and think. Oh, and he’s funny too. When he asked me to design his blog, I jumped at the chance. This one was a challenge for me. First of all, it is the first blog I’ve designed for a guy. Secondly, it is the first blog I designed for someone entirely outside the creative industry (Aaron is a pastor). I was playing in a whole new ballpark, so to speak, but I loved every second of the process.
The look and feel for Aaron’s blog, called ‘History of Me‘, is a blend of clean and classic, with a twist of something a bit more fun and funky. I paired pinstripes with a rough and grungy photo border; crisp, modern typography with a sketchy, hand-drawn font; cool grays and blues with a pop of orange. The result is a blog that feels like home to Aaron. It this blog was a shirt, Aaron would probably wear it. That is always my goal when I create a blog for someone. It needs to feel as comfortable as their favorite sweatshirt. Ok, now go check out Aaron’s blog and say hi to him for me!
