My studio. It’s where I spend the vast majority of my waking hours. It’s a good thing that I love the space, the light, and the architecture of the room. Remember when I refreshed it last winter? And I concluded with a (short) list of (two) final tasks to be done? One was the addition of the wall art in the north dormer. The other was the removal of the carpeting. About that. Well, I’ve been pondering it for a long time. Months, really. Knowing I wanted to do it. Knowing that hardwood floors lurked below. Yet lacking the gusto to get it done.
And then there was yesterday. A busy day, to be sure. But a day wherein this girl felt…scattered. I had a million things on my plate, yet every task felt menial. I wanted to DO something. So I got up from my desk, walked to the corner of the room. And started ripping the carpeting out. Just like that.
An hour later, the stairway was unnavigable, but the studio was home to a gleaming hardwood floor.
There is more work to be done. Staples and edging to be removed. Quarter round trim to be added. A good scrubbing is in order, too.
But at the end of the day, I have to say, I’m totally and completely smitten.
