Since my camera is separated from me by 250 miles, I had to find an alternative means of capturing the things I want to share with all of you this week on the blog. I considered snapping pictures with my phone, but doubted you would be wooed by the blurry, dull pictures it produces. Instead, I asked my brother-in-law if I could borrow his fancy digital SLR. Let me tell you, I have no idea how to operate the thing, but I had a blast taking pictures with it! I started with an easy subject–the flowering crab trees in our yard.
They are both in full bloom, and the branches are heavy with these fragrant, vibrant flowers. I’ve never been one to love spring, mostly because growing up in the northwoods it meant cold, damp weather and a muddy, gravel driveway. But here, just a few hours south, spring is like a stunning theatrical production. The temperatures are warm and pleasant, and I love the new growth and fantastic show as everything comes to life.
Spring came a whole month early this year, and I have been loving every minute of it. As soon as this tree burst into bloom, the word that came to mind was scrumptious. It’s like a fabulous dessert that is rich, thick and completely mouthwatering.
