something pretty

Today I would like to make a confession. I am not much of a girly-girl. I don’t like painting my nails or getting too glammed up. I would rather wear workout clothes and rock a ponytail than sport heels and a dress any day of the week. I sometimes wish I was more into pretty little things, accessorizing and looking cute, but there is just too much tomboy left in me. I was always the little girl with dirt under her nails and skinned knees, who would rather build a tree-fort than play with dolls.

All that being said, you probably aren’t surprised to hear that I don’t often get excited about finding something pretty to put in my hair. But, when I came across these Tiny Twig Hair Pins by Woodland Belle, I was a little bit giddy. See, I’m thinking of cutting my hair short sometime soon, and I know that I’ll want something to pin wisps out of my face. These nature-inspired bobby pins seemed like just the right thing. And when I read Mai McKemy’s description of what exactly a “Woodland Belle” is, I was sold.

Blending sophistication with playfulness, my idea of the woodland belle is that of the modern woman full of charm and refined sensibilities, yet balanced with a rustic aesthetic and an acclamation for the natural world. Simply put, a woodland belle is beautiful; a woodland belle is still a girl at heart, with a fire for discovery. She is bright and optimistic; she knows that there are still treasures to be found in the world.

Are you a woodland belle? Then you should probably check out Mai’s shop. You will love the simple, timeless and natural style of her bronze-cast jewelry and hair accessories.
