b*styles :: a lodge wedding, part 2

Picking up where we left off yesterday, I’m back with more shots from our lodge wedding shoot. I told you we had a stunning couple, didn’t I? Dave actually proposed to Abby just minutes before the shoot, so needless to say, they were happy and in love. Abby wore my wedding dress, and it was fun to see it in action again. We had the couple wandering the long sand beach, playing in the water, making s’mores (who needs wedding cake??), lighting sparklers and ending the day with a canoe ride.

Em took many, many other amazing photos of these two, but in an effort to not overwhelm you guys, I’ve just chosen a handful of my favorites. However, Cyd at The Sweetest Occasion is going to feature more photos from this shoot, so be sure to watch for them on her blog.

All for today friends. I’m out of the studio and headed to yet another styled shoot with my best gal, Emily!

b*styles :: a lodge wedding, part 1

Remember last month when I headed north to style a wedding shoot with Emily at Elbow Lake Lodge? Well, get ready, because I’m here today (and tomorrow) to share just a few of Em’s amazing photos from that shoot. We were blessed with beautiful weather, a stunning couple, amazing vendors, and a 5-star location. This shoot was loaded with sweet, meaningful, and charming, rustic, up-north goodness. Today it’s all about the details. And tomorrow I’ll be back with photos of our lovely bride and groom!

And because no styling post is complete with out one, here is the compulsory behind-the-scenes shot of me “tweaking”.

b*styles :: travis & shauna, one more time

Hey! It’s Thursday! And I’m back today with a few snaps from an engagement session I recently styled for Emily. The big reveal of the second blog project will happen tomorrow, as we are still working out a couple bugs today. In the meantime, get a load out of this couple. SMOKING.HOT. I adore Shauna and Travis, and was thrilled to be able to style their winter (#1 and #2) and summer engagement shoots (plus their wedding later in August!). For this one, we headed to a race track in New Richmond, Wisconsin, where Shauna rocked a killer skirt and heels. With Trav sporting blue Sperry boat shoes, and the sun sinking in the western sky, this couple made quite the pretty picture.

After the track, we made for a grassy field, where Shauna and Travis were joined by Nomar and Tellie, their two boston terriers. The couple changed into fresh outfits and rubber wellies. Let me just say, Shauna has got style, man. I helped with ideas for wardrobe, but this girl really pulled it together. As day turned to dusk, we wrapped up the session with flickering candles, sparkling wine and strawberries. Cue collective sigh.

Want to see more photos? Head over to Emily’s blog for two posts featuring Travis & Shauna’s summer e-sessions!

b*styles : travis and shauna’s winter picnic

bspoke_3-14-11-7

You may remember earlier this year when I shared the styled engagement shoot of Travis and Shauna. Emily Steffen was behind the lens, while I styled details. It was a perfect winter day, and Travis and Shauna were a blast to work with. Today I’m back with another series of shots from their session. After gallivanting around the ski hill, and through the woods, Emily and I brought Travis and Shauna to a snowy meadow for a lovely little winter picnic. Homemade ice cream sandwiches were served with coconut snowballs and glasses of milk. The couple cuddled on cozy wool blanket, while Emily snapped away. The results were pure magic. Hope this little dose of pretty brightens your Monday, my dears! Be back tomorrow…

b*styles : northwoods romance

bspoke_3-10-11-2

Hey friends! I’m a bit behind the curve today, but I wanted to share this with you before the day goes by. Remember back in February when I went to Ely with my pal, Emily Steffen? I briefly mentioned that we were up to something special, but didn’t divulge too many details. Today our “Northwoods Romance” styled shoot is featured on Wedding Chicks, and that means I get to share it here with you as well. And I’m so excited! It’s been hard to keep this one under our hats, but hopefully you’ll think it was worth the wait.

For this shoot, Emily and I traveled to the far-northern reaches of Minnesota, to a cabin in the woods with no electricity or running water. This may sound primitive, but to us, it was inspiring and beautiful. The majority of the props we used were items that were already at the cabin, which made our job easy, and made the entire shoot feels seamless and cohesive. The gorgeous flowers were done by Danielle of Studio Fleuerette. Danielle is my very, very favorite florist, and if I could do my wedding all over again, she would be my girl. Jules of Knit-n-Jules provided the beautiful knits for our bride, and Emily knit a charming bow-tie for our groom! My mom did the lettering on our chalkboard menu and on all the birch bark “paper” details.

Tomorrow, I will show show you how to make your own birch bark tea bag tags (pictured below). In the meantime, check out more images below, on Wedding Chicks and on Emily’s blog!
